Liberty4 Known Issues

3.1b
current release
  • Rewards Plans points are added to accounts for layaways even when the layaway is not finished.

  • RWDBack.exe is being overwritten by the update.  v1.0.0.139 is in the installer, but v1.0.0.152 is the latest build.  139 has a Known Issue that will "undo"/remove the Scheduled Task once the first backup completes.  This has been resolved in the 152 build.

Once you have downloaded and installed the 3.1a update, please install the following patch:

    http://resaleworld.com/files/BackupPatch.EXE

Please verify that your Scheduled Task is set to correctly after installing.  As with ALL backups, please verify (on a regular basis) that your backups are working.
3.1a
  • Rewards Plans points are added to accounts for layaways even when the layaway is not finished.

  • New POS Coupons - Coupons are not showing in the Sub-Total/Total Due window when they are applied.  Only when you click the Payment button (i.e., Cash, Visa, etc.) will you see the correct Sub-Total.  The accounting still works out just fine, but you won't see the correct amount due until you add the Payment.

There is currently no workaround for this, but we should have a new release very soon.

  • RWDBack.exe removes its Schedule Task once it performs its first scheduled backup.  Thus, it does not continue to create scheduled backups from that point forward.  A fix for this is being tested as this is being typed.  We anticipate a fix for this by the end of October 2007 or the beginning of November 2007.

As always, any backups other than the ones you make each day are considered "secondary".

  • Installing this (or any) update, resets "GL Account Names" in Liberty.  For those who do not export to QuickBooks, this issue is of no concern.  For those of you who do use the QB Link, please read this carefully.

Anything that can be exported from Liberty to QuickBooks - i.e., POS Payment Types, Payment Accounts, etc. - has a GL Account Name.  For the "Visa" Payment Type, this defaults to "Visa".  Many users modify this, so all credit card Payment Types go to the same GL Account in QuickBooks.  After installing an update, these names are reset back to their defaults.  Thus, the next time you run a QB Link export, it will send your data to different GL Accounts.

Currently, there is no patch for this NOR is there a quick workaround.  Before installing the 3.1a update, please make note of ALL of your GL Account Names.  Once you have installed the update, you can then go back and re-enter your GL Account names.

If you have already installed the update, here is how you can find your old GL Account info:

    - Make a backup of your CURRENT database.  Rename this database and keep it in a SAFE PLACE.  Make sure you know where this database is as you will restore this database once you are done.
    - Restore to a database backup that was made prior to installing the 3.1a update.
    - Make note of all of your GL Account settings
    - Restore the database you made in step 1

We sincerely apologize for this issue.  This is not new to 3.1a though, this is reproducible in the 3.0c update as well.

This issue was discovered by Art Waldman at Klassy Kidz.

  • 3.1a included v3.1.0.7 in the official update.  The final build was actually v3.1.0.9.  For those downloading as of10/18/2007, everything is current.  For those who downloaded prior to 10/18/2007, please download and install the current update.

The differences between .7 and .9 are few, primarily cosmetic.  There is only one difference between .7 and .9 that is related to functionality - Quick Copy/Copy Items.  The "" and "" initialize to "0" instead of "1".  This doesn't lead to any errors or problems, it just makes "0" copies.

Here is what the screens look like...

    v3.1.0.7

    v3.1.0.9

  • POS Receipts are not printing after installing 3.1a.

When you install 3.1a, the POS module is set to "0" for "Number of Copies to Print".  This is preventing receipts from printing.  Once you have installed 3.1a, please click Setup > POS Setup > Print Options.

This will "revert" back to "0" if you go back to Setup > POS Setup > Print Options, so leave this set once you have changed it to 1.

For those who downloaded RC1, RC2 or RC3, this was an issue in all of those pre-releases.  The RC program is intended to get an early release to beta testers so they can see the new features, test new + existing functionality, etc.  This issue was not reported during any of the RC releases, even though it existed.

  • Multiple Quantity items that have been Copied/Quick Copied retain the original item's "Quantity to List".  This results in listings that reflect more items than you actually have available.

Here is a quick breakdown of the issue...

    - Create an item with a Quantity of "10".  This automatically sets the Quantity to List to "10" as well.
    - Copy/Quick Copy this item and enter "3" (for example) in the "Quantity" field in the Copy Item window.
    - Your new item shows "3" for both Quantity + Quantity to List.  In actuality though, the WEB_QUANTITY field in the database still shows "10" (from the original item).

If you list the item in that state, you will see "3" in Liberty but "10" on eBay.

    Workaround:
    - Modify the "Quantity to List" field before you upload your item(s) and click "Save" to update the database.

Kyle Mackey from the Online Consignment Depot was the first reproduce and document this issue.  Take a look at his reCommerce site and his eBay listings!
3.0c (3.0.2.4)
  • List Index Out of Bounds error when clicking "Item Lookup."  This is something that many customers will not even encounter.  When clicking the "Item Lookup" button at the top of the main form in Liberty Inventory, users have reported seeing a List Index Out of Bounds error message.  There is a new column now in Item Lookup for "Disposition" and for users that have stretched/moved any columns, they may see this message.  The fix for this is as follows:

    - Click Start
    - Click Run
    - Type regedit and click "Ok"
    - Browse to the following "key" (folder) within your Windows Registry Editor => HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ResaleWorld.com\RWD
    - Delete the "Forms" and "Grids" keys by right-clicking on each of them and choosing "Delete."  Here is a screen shot of what this looks like:

Once you have deleted both "Forms" and "Grids," close the Registry Editor and if Liberty was open during this, restart Liberty.  If you are seeing this message on other systems on your network, you would need to follow the same steps above on those PCs as well.

    Fixed in v3.1a

  • Training Mode database does not include UPLOAD_ACCOUNT_IND in a brand new, full install of Liberty4.  Thus, when attempting to double-click on an account an error mentioning UPLOAD_ACCOUNT_IND will appear.  Existing users will not run into this problem, only new users doing a fresh installation of Liberty4 Consignment or Trading Assistants.

This can be fixed by installing the 3.1a update

  • RWDBack.exe does not backup Event Manager HTML Templates, Auction HTML Templates or Word Processor Letters if the C:\RWD\Image folder does not exist or is empty.  The database does in fact backup and this only impacts users who have zero images in the C:\RWD\Image folder.

RWDBack.exe creates multiple "temp" files that are sent directly to the Recycle Bin consuming the Recycle Bin's storage space.

These issues can be fixed by downloading the following patch:

    http://resaleworld.com/files/BackupPatch.EXE

  • The Item List reports within a Client account are leaving a blank space for Address #2 if it is empty.  This is strictly a cosmetic *issue.

A patch for this will be posted soon
3.0b (3.0.1.0)

  • Users running Windows 2000 for their server and who use Nero InCD for backups, cannot backup directly to the CD using the new backup routine.  The workaround is to backup to a local path first (i.e., C:\Backups) and then copy/drag 'n' drop your backup file to your CD drive.

  • Users running Windows 2000 for their server and who use Nero InCD for backups, cannot backup directly to the CD using the new backup routine.  The workaround is to backup to a local path first (i.e., C:\Backups) and then copy/drag 'n' drop your backup file to your CD drive.

  • The Retail Inventory report is not sorting by Item Number.  This can be fixed by downloading and installing the following patch:

    http://resaleworld.com/files/RetailDetail_SortPatch.EXE

Make sure this is installed on all of your computers that run Liberty.

***NOTE*** - Only the main Inventory Module is v3.0b.  All other modules will still reflect build 3.0a since only the Inventory Module was updated.

  • A file used for the new automated backup routine is missing from the installer.  You can download this missing file using the following link:

    http://www.resaleworld.com/files/BackupPatch.EXE

Make sure you "save" this file and then simply download it to just your server.

  • An error number "SC.BIZ.ILLEGAL_OPERATION" occurred while processing your request.

This is an "un-mapped" error coming from eBay.  This basically means, they do not have the appropriate error to generate for this.  So, why are certain users seeing this?  You will see this error if you attempt to upload ANY categories that have a top-level named "Other."

Make sure you do not use the word "Other" in any of your top-level (Level 1) categories.

This isn't so much a "known issue" in regards to, a problem with the application.  It is something that was new to 3.0 though because 3.0 now supports the new eBay category structure.  This error has been reported to eBay so they can update their error-handling.

  • If a backup is created while Liberty is open, when you close Liberty, you will still see the "Your last backup was made on..." message.  A backup is indeed being made and you can check the location where your backups are being sent to so you can see the file.  What's happening is, since the backup is being made by a new, external .EXE, Liberty is not "re-reading" the Registry.  Liberty only reads the Registry when it is first launched.  We will be addressing this issue shortly.

  • Users seeing an "Input data for tag <Item.ShippingDetails> is invalid or missing." error message when trying to upload items to eBay, will need the following USPS/eBay Patch:

    http://www.resaleworld.com/files/USPSeBayPatch.EXE

  • The Cash Drawer report is not formatting the "Cash Payout" amounts correctly.  The following patch will resolve this issue:

    http://www.resaleworld.com/files/CashDrwrPatch.EXE

Install this on all of your computers that run Liberty.
3.0a (3.0.0.12)
  • "Quick Copy" is copying items as "Unavailable."  The workaround for this issue is to use the "Copy Items" function instead.

    Fixed in v

  • The new backup called from within Liberty will not backup to a path that contains spaces.  Many users utilize the Windows XP CD Burning shortcut - C:\Documents and Settings\***USERNAME***\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning - for quick CD creation.  The workaround for this issue is to add double-quotes before and after your backup path under Tools > Options > Backup.  So, if your current path is C:\Liberty Backups, simply change it to "C:\Liberty Backups" instead.

    Fixed in v3.0b

2.6b (2.6.1.6)
  • "List Index Out of Bounds" error when adding new accounts AND entering new Zip Codes.  The workaround is to add the account with no Zip Code and then add the Zip Code once you are in the Account Detail.

    Fixed in v3.0a
